How Africa Markets researches, reviews and corrects its deal profiles and Insights articles, how we use AI, and why nothing we publish is investment advice.

Last updated 30 October 2026

What we publish

  • Deal profiles in Deals: funding rounds, secondaries and acquisitions at African private companies.
  • Insights articles in Insights: analysis of African private markets.
  • Africa Markets Weekly, our email newsletter, which summarises both.

How deal profiles are produced

  1. AI-assisted research. An AI research tool with live web search compiles a draft profile from public sources: company announcements and press releases, reputable news outlets, the company's own website, regulator filings and summaries from deal databases. It is instructed to prefer primary sources, to cross-check amounts and dates across at least two sources where possible, and to leave a field empty rather than guess. It must not invent figures, investors, customers or quotes.
  2. Sources kept with the profile. The web sources consulted are stored with the draft and listed on the published page under "Sources" and "In the news", so readers can check them.
  3. Human review before publication. Drafts are not public. A member of the Africa Markets team reviews each profile, checks figures against the cited sources, edits it and only then publishes it. Each AI-researched profile states when it was compiled and when our team reviewed it.

How the Deal Signal score and the figures on each profile are worked out is explained in our methodology.

How articles are produced

Some Insights articles are drafted with AI from public sources, sometimes on topics people search for. Every draft is edited by the Africa Markets team before publication, and articles drafted this way say so at the end.

Corrections

If you think something we published is wrong, email [email protected] with the page address, what is wrong and, if you can, a source for the correct information. We review every request. When we confirm an error we correct the page; figures are updated when a better source is available.

Not investment advice

Everything we publish is general information, not financial, investment, legal or tax advice, and not an offer, solicitation or recommendation to buy or sell any security. Companies we write about are not listed or traded on Africa Markets. Read our Disclosures & Risk Warning.

Conflicts of interest

Africa Markets is operated in partnership with Capital Engine®, which may earn fees from platform activity once it launches; Capital Engine Securities and Mallory Capital Group may earn fees for services connected with the platform. Companies we profile may in future raise capital or have their shares traded through the platform. The Deal Signal score measures public information and capital, not merit, and is calculated the same way for every deal. Our Disclosures describe these relationships in full.
